About Otoplasty Surgery

Otoplasty before and after pictures show dramatic improvements. It involves earlobe plastic surgery including earlobe reconstruction. The procedure is almost always done on both ears to keep them symmetric.

Otoplasty is an outpatient procedure Dr. Rochlin performs in the surgical suite at her office. Depending on the patient, she will use sedation or local anesthesia.

How to Prepare for Otoplasty Surgery in Scottsdale AZ & Gilbert AZ?

Otoplasty preparation is similar to other facial surgeries. Patients are instructed to avoid medications and substances for two weeks before and after surgery, including:

  • Painkillers; acetaminophen is OK if needed
  • Blood thinners
  • Supplements
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco

Be sure to fill the antibiotic and other prescriptions from your doctor before the surgery.

What to Expect From Otoplasty?

After otoplasty, the ears are covered with protective bandages for a few days. They should only be removed by a doctor; by then, you’ll see a noticeable difference!

You’ll have to wear a protective headband at night for two to six weeks. Try not to sleep on your side.

Otoplasty in Scottsdale AZ & Gilbert AZ FAQs

Otoplasty surgery on the outer ear is done with incisions on the back of the ear or in the creases where they are more hidden. Ear augmentation surgery for people with unusually small ears enlarges them by adding hydrogels or polymers where cartilage is lacking. Earlobe surgery otoplasty procedures are done directly on the lobe itself.
Most otoplasty procedures take about two hours.
Usually one to two weeks. You can swim once the ear is completely healed. Wear a protective cap for at least six to eight weeks after ears are healed.
Earlobe reconstruction surgery is one of the fastest-growing corrective cosmetic surgeries, thanks to the lobe stretching trend. It used to be limited to people whose lobes were stretched or split from wearing heavy earrings — including clip earrings.
